Moncenya L. Chatman, MD

Dr. Chatman was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama.  Moncenya receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology with Honors from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.  She graduated from medical school from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama prior to entering the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program.  Dr. Chatman is continuing her career in Maternal Fetal Medicine as a Fellow at Wake Forest University. She resides in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.


Nikki Yarbrough, DO

Dr. Yarbrough was born and raised in Valdosta, Georgia.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Valdosta State University.  She graduated with Honors from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree.  Dr. Yarbrough then completed a Transitional Year internship at Columbus Regional - The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia before moving to Johnson City to join our residency program.  Upon completing her OB/GYN residency, Dr. Yarbrough and her husband returned to their hometown of Valdosta, Georgia.

Dr. Bowers was born in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  She completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri.

Dr. Kushna Damallie was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with Honors from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia.  He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.  Upon completion of his residency with us, Dr. Damallie accepted a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of South Florida.  He planned to complete one year of private practice at the Women's Clinic at Clarksdale, Mississippi prior to the Fellowship.

Dr. Pickler completed her B.S. degree in biochemistry from North Carolina State University. She later obtained an M.B.A. degree form the University of North Carolina, Charlotte and received her M.D. degree from Boston University School of Medicine.

Dr. Lauer-Silva completed her B.S. degree from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Rapid City, South Dakota and her M.D. degree from the University of South Dakota in 1996. She remained in Johnson City as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at East Tennessee State University and joined the ETSU Physicians and Associates OB/GYN Practice Group from 2001-2005.

Dr. Markham graduated in 1999. She is from Los Angeles, California and came to ETSU because she wanted the intimacy of a smaller program and to live in a rural setting.

Dr. Hollins decided to come to East Tennessee State University because it was a combined university and community program. Her interests include sports fitness and running.


Chris Pickens, MD

Dr. Pickens grew up in Toccoa, Georgia and chose ETSU for postgraduate training in OB/GYN mainly for its size and location. He wanted a smaller program for more personalized attention and the program at ETSU would provide him the kind of quality education in the small setting he was seeking.

Ray Jarvis, MD

Dr. Jarvis received his B.S. in chemistry at Furman University, and his medical degree from Mercer School of Medicine. He is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Jarvis came to ETSU primarily for two reasons. The first is that his wife, Beth, grew up in Johnson City and has immediate family in the area. The second is that he wanted his training to be in a small university setting.
"ETSU is unique in that with is a university program with the look and feel of a community-based program."


Norbert Delacey, MD

Dr. Delacey came to East Tennessee State University from Little Rock, Arkansas because he really liked the geographical area. He was first attracted to ETSU by a faculty member whom he knew from Little Rock.

Enrique Becerra, MD

Dr. Becerra joined the program as a second-year resident in July 1994. He is a Graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and completed two years of a residency program at Harbor, UCLA. He practiced general medicine in Los Angeles for five years before moving to Johnson City.


Kaylar Howard, MD

After receiving her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Dr. Howard completed her internship in Asheville at Memorial Mission Hospital. She joined the program as a second-year resident in January 1995, after completing a year and a half of an anesthesiology residency at Vanderbilt University.


Delphia Marshall, MD

Dr. Marshall, a native of Jackson, Tennessee, is a graduate of the Quillen College of Medicine. She joined the program in July 1994 as a second-year resident after completing one year of a residency program in New York.

Elton G. Fennell

Dr. Fennell received his B.S. in radiologic technology and completed his M.D. at the American University of the Caribbean in 1982. Dr. Fennell completed a residency in family practice at East Tennessee State University in 1986 and a Primary Care Faculty Development Fellowship in Lansing, Michigan in 1990. Dr. Fennell holds the distinction of being the program's first resident graduate.
