Application for Residency
It is our intent to use this web site, rather than brochures, to keep interested medical students updated with the latest information about our program.
The Department of OB~GYN at East Tennessee State University seeks candidates who demonstrate proven scholarship, a high level of preparedness, ability, and aptitude. Communication skills, integrity, compassion, courage, and stability are as important as an enthusiasm for patient-care, teaching and research. The Program does not discriminate with regard to sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
The Program uses Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to process and review applications. Only applications received through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) will be considered. ERAS normally opens in mid to late August, and we begin downloading files on September 1. Our deadline for all applications is December 10. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for all of our PGY 1 positions.
Our program is fully accredited by the ACGME and our next reaccreditation site visit is scheduled for 2010.

Interviews
All invited applicants will be contacted by email. Interviews are held so we may have an opportunity to get to know each other better. Typically 6 applicants are interviewed per day. Four faculty members and two residents will interview each applicant. Additional residents will be available at breakfast and lunch to answer any questions you may have. The evening before an interview day, a resident will host a casual dinner at his/her home for the applicants, residents, and faculty (spouses/partners included). We hope that all applicants will be able to attend this informal gathering.
